They really, fully, understood the project, possibly better than any of the consortium partners themselves. In this position they provided the relevant glue that made the proposal consistent and innovative, and, after the proposal was successful, for the project to have large impact.
Our main objective was to get a person who could assist with proposal preparation in the whole fashion, and not just from administrative point of view as it usually happens.
The consultants exceeded our expectations on just about every level. They went so deep in the content that they were able to advise us (the experts) on how to design things in a better way. Entrepreneurs are often too focused in their niches, and they lack the wider vision. The consultants provided this insight, allowing us to focus on things that really matter.
We enjoyed knowing (and feeling) that our motivation and objectives are truly shared - to win the proposal. At some points it even felt they put more in it than ourselves - something that was a very positive surprise.
